Types of curtains

Sheer Curtains (semi daytime privacy)

Most commonly created with a lightweight fabric, this stylish feature is best suited to ensure that living spaces are well lit by allowing generous amounts of natural light to give softness, especially to stark backgrounds. It also provides semi daytime privacy from the exterior and gives ventilation; fabrics such as linen, silk, or cotton make beautiful, finished products.

Block out Curtains (early sunrises)

A modern solution for those who need extended darkness to stay asleep or just need a little more shuteye than an early sunrise offers, whilst hugely functional, it can still create a sleek and stylish look. Made from heavy, tightly woven fabric that blocks out the light when fully drawn it can also minimize noise, control temperature, and definitely provides a protective barrier to your furnishings from sun damage.

Lined Curtains (light protection and privacy)

Its main purpose is to extend the life of window treatments, however lined curtains can also help to retain heat and reduce light infiltration, thereby making it an energy-saving solution. Choose from a wide range of fabric (plain or patterned) that is sewn to the back of the curtain and gives curtaining a fuller, more voluptuous look and feel as well as privacy.

S-Fold/Wave Curtains

Also known as ripple fold or wave curtains, s-fold refers to the s-shaped lines created by this style, using tape and spacing folds to create a similar view from both sides. Perfect to use with sheer fabrics, when layered the patterned folds give a gentle uniform effect. When combining one layer of sheer fabric with opaque the total effect allows good control of heat, light and privacy; and still presents a contemporary look that is also stylish. Options of bespoke wall to wall or ceiling to floor can totally transform any space to complement other furnishings.

Box pleat

This style consists of deep folds down the full length of the curtain and allows for a very tailored and elegant finish. Using top quality, designer fabric the pleat is made of two identical folds, stitched to ensure even placement with the end result of a decorative finish and regal fullness. Well suited to lounges or dining rooms, it really can be used anywhere you want to make a statement.

Pinch pleat

Whilst more traditional, when using luxury fabric to create a custom piece, well designed and manufactured pleats can never go out of style as it gives a classic, elegant feel. Uniform pleats are gathered and sewn together for a tailored look that, as well as being a stylish finish to the top of your curtain, can also allow control of light and privacy.

Triple pleat

The technique of small groups of gathered pleats separated by flat sections of fabric provides additional volume and extra fullness. Creating a more formal, tailored, yet classic finish, its added versatility is when hung on a pole or track and looks good in formal or relaxed settings; this particular window dressing style can accentuate bold fabric colours and patterns.

Goblet pleat

This is a tucked and folded detailed heading style, open right on top to give a ‘goblet’ or ‘wineglass’ look. When choosing high quality fabric, based on your specifications, the custom-made product will frame your windows in style. Options include being hung from a track or pole.
